I installed BookingBuilder Desktop but it only shows a few airlines. How do I get the rest of them?
By default only certain airlines are enabled. Enabling the rest of them is very easy. Before you do this, make sure you have the login information for the web sites that require it. Then, login to our web site at www.bookingbuilder.com/bbdesktop. Once you login, click Edit Groups. You will most likely only see the Default group. Click the group you want to edit, then click Edit Supplier Settings. You will now see a list of all the suppliers available in BookingBuilder Desktop. Click Edit next to each one that you want to change. The individual supplier edit screen will show you information about how that supplier is handled in BookingBuilder Desktop and allow you to set the options for that supplier. To enable the supplier, click the "Enable" button and then fill in the required options for that supplier. When you are finished, click Save Changes then click Done.
How do I enable Instant Fare Quote?
With all new installations, Instant Fare Quote is on by default. However, for customers who had BookingBuilder Desktop before Instant Fare Quote became available, we have it turned off by default. We did not want your agents to suddenly see something new in the software, so it's up to you to enable it for them. It is very easy:
Login to our web site at www.bookingbuilder.com/bbdesktop. Once you login, click Edit Groups. You will most likely only see the Default group. Click the group you want to edit, then click BookingBuilder Desktop Options. You will now see the option to enable Instant Fare Quote. Check it and click Save. Repeat this for all the groups that should have Instant Fare Quote.
Please note that you must have Build 60 or newer for Instant Fare Quote. To see what versions you have installed, click Edit Groups, click the group you want to edit then click Edit Computers Assigned to this Group.
How do I add more computers to my account?
It is very important that you keep all the computers you add in the same account, instead of adding new accounts for additional computers. If you are adding just one or two new computers, go to those computers, log in to our web site with your email address and password, and on the first page after you login will see text that tells you that computer has not been registered, and a link to register the computer. Click the link, when prompted install the component it requires, and the computer will be registered to your company. The site will then show you a link to install the software. Click that, and you'll be running in no time!
If you are installing multiple new computers, the fastest way is through a Quick Link. Login to our web site from any computer, then click Edit Groups. Click Edit next to the Group that should get the new computers, and then click Quick Link. Click the Create Quick Link button, and you will see a link that you can email to everyone who is to get the software. When that link is clicked, it will open a page that installs the registration component, asks for the computer nickname, automatically registers the computer to your account, and then shows a link to install the software.
For multiple computer installations, you can also take advantage of the installer options, such as automatic registration, and silent operation. Click here for detailed information on this.
Individual agents can't install sofware under our security policy. How do we install BookingBuilder Desktop on their computers?
In many companies, individual computers are "locked down" to prevent software installations. We have a very easy, and highly secure, method of installing BookingBuilder Desktop in these environments. We have a small program you run that securely encrypts a login and password with installation rights, and saves that in a shared folder with the installer and a "run-as" program. Each agent simply runs the "run-as" program, which decrypts the login information and runs the installer with appropriate rights. The computer is never logged in with administrative, so full security is maintained. Click here for complete instructions.
How can I have separate settings for different locations or different groups of agents?
Agencies often have different groups of agents, such as corporate and leisure, or different locations, that each require different settings in BookingBuilder Desktop. We make it very easy to have different Groups, each with its own settings. Login to our website with your email address and password, and click Edit Groups. There will always be the Default Group. Each Group has its own settings. Click Add Group to add a new one. You can put new computers in this group, or move computers from another group into it. Within the group, you can change the Supplier and GDS settings as needed.
It is best to handle multiple groups this way instead of creating separate companies. This method keeps everything you are doing in one place, and makes billing much easier.
When bookings are entered into my GDS, I get both air segments and non-air (OTH/TUR/TVL/etc.). How can I have it put in only one segment type?
BookingBuilder Desktop offers you options on how information is entered into your GDS. By default, all the options are selected. If you want to change them, the next time a booking confirmation is read, next to the "Enter into" button are some choices that look like this:

Check or uncheck the options you require, and those settings will be remembered the next time you complete a booking on a supplier site.
Sometimes the BB icon is red. What does this mean?
The BB icon has 4 colors or states. The first is yellow, which means that it is in standby mode. It is waiting for your GDS to open, and will do nothing.
If the software is unable to communicate with our server, you will see a yellow icon with a red circle and slash through it.
Green means that it is connected to your GDS and ready to work.
Red means that it is working. For example, when the Availability Dialog is visible, the icon will be red. This indicates that the software is working, so it won't respond to availability commands in your GDS until you finish the task at hand.
What happens when an airline adds new citypairs or changes its web site? Do I have to load an update?
BookingBuilder Desktop is a very sophisticated system that includes the software your install, our web server and database back-end, as well as applications we run in our development and support centers. We regularly update our database of citypairs. The BookingBuilder Desktop application you install checks our server every 30 minutes to see if the citypairs and other information has been updated. If so, it automatically retrieves the latest information. You do not have to load any updates.
When we add new airlines or airlines change their web sites, it works the same way. We simply update the information in our database, and BookingBuilder Desktop downloads the updated instructions on how to work with the web sites or new airlines.
How do we know new versions of BookingBuilder Desktop are available? Can these updates be installed automatically?
We notify all customers by email when new updates are available. BookingBuilder Desktop does have an automatic update feature, and it can even be configured to install updates on computers where only an IT administrator has installation rights. Click here for the details on how to configure this and the related security considerations.
